History
The need for ongoing neuro rehabilitation care was highlighted by a spinal cord injury client who was unable to receive long term treatments once dischared from the hospital. Subsequently, she and her family left Canada to seek intensive rehabilitation to facilitate potential recovery.
Recognising the overwhelming gap in specialized care for people with neurological conditions, practitioners from Uthrive ventured to the United States to explore training options with hopes of being able to bring the treatments back to Canada. Although Syn.ap.tic had originally intended to focus on spinal cord injuries, other neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, stroke and traumatic brain injuries are also being treated at the centre.
Syn.ap.tic opened its doors in February, 2012 and continues to see people from all across Canada.
